Three home ideas trending this Summer

Updated: Nov 6, 2023

Here we take a look at some of the top home trends of summer 2022 according to Houzz.

Dedicated Spaces

One lasting impression from the pandemic has been the desire to fit more into our homes. It’s convenience more than necessity that's now driving this trend to have dedicated spaces but it’s one that’s likely to continue.

There have been large increases in people searching for dedicated spaces for specific activities. TV rooms, Cinema rooms, Gym rooms, Play Rooms and even Reading nooks.

However the most common has been elevated TV rooms, media wall and TV wall. These often need to be bespoke to fit perfectly with your home so check out Jim Sharples Furniture, a husband and wife Bristol based team, for your carpentry needs.

Luxurious Bedrooms

This trend of creating more relaxed areas in the home has continued into the bedroom. Bedroom panelling, headboards, ensuite, and dressing rooms have all seen their popularity rise. Navy blue is the colour of choice at the moment, but dark earthy colours are also trending.

Indoor-Outdoor spaces

Creating a seamless transition from inside to outdoors has been an ongoing trend for years. However this it's now gone into overdrive with outside kitchens, sunrooms and even orangeries receiving lots of attention.

An increase in raised planters and other ways to break up patios shows that people want to bring their gardens right up to their homes.

This is echoed by our favourite bristol based garden design specialist Phil Stovell, ‘I have always had a deep appreciation for what I like to call the outdoor room, because for me a garden should feel connected to the home’. Take a look at Phil's work to see what your garden could become.
